International is based in Lisle, Illinois, and is the parent company of International® brand commercial trucks and powertrains, IC Bus® brand school and commercial buses, all-makes advanced connectivity services, and aftermarket parts brands Fleetrite® and ReNEWeD®. International also offers its customers a range of financial services. On July 1, 2021, TRATON SE, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG and one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, acquired all outstanding shares of Navistar (former International name). As a result of the merger, International joined the TRATON GROUP'S existing brands of Scania, MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus and RIO. The merger builds upon a successful cooperative strategic alliance that began in 2017.
