T14 TRANSMISSION:
BUILT FOR THE JOBSITE
The International® S13® Integrated Powertrain demonstrates how optimal performance depends on the strength of the entire system, not just individual components. The S13® Engine, T14® Transmission, and Dual-Stage Aftertreatment were developed to function as a single, optimized unit that delivers smooth, consistent power and next-level fuel efficiency for on-highway trucks like the LT® Series and RH™ Series, as well as vocational trucks like the HX® Series and HV™ Series.
This integrated approach is especially valuable in vocational applications, where work truck operators face unique demands. Vocational customers need powertrains built for durability and extreme duty cycles—and few applications test those limits like concrete mixer trucks, which combine heavy payloads, constant PTO operation, and frequent start-stop cycles necessary for certain jobs.
These demanding conditions require high torque at low RPMs for startability and drum rotation during mixing and discharging. The T14 delivers the deep low-end gearing this work demands, and when matched to the S13 Integrated Powertrain, it produces 1,850 lb-ft of torque at just 900 rpm—ideal for stop-and-go operations.
Equally important is the smooth, steady motion when spreading concrete. The T14 Drive Modes give operators precise control over truck movement, helping ensure an even pour while reducing imperfections and costly re-dos.
To find out how the T14 performs in the real world, we asked concrete industry professionals to share their experiences.
Tom Pittman, CIO of Chaney Enterprises, highlighted several benefits his fleet has experienced with International HX Series cement trucks equipped with the S13 Integrated Powertrain.
THE T14 WITH ITS CREEP MODE IS AN ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER. ESPECIALLY ON CURB MACHINE JOBS AND JOBS WITH TALL INCLINES, THE TRUCKS AREN'T DRIFTING BACKWARDS. THE TRANSMISSION MAKES EVERYBODY'S LIFE EASIER. THE EASIER YOU CAN MAKE THIS JOB FOR DRIVERS, THE LONGER YOU'RE GOING TO KEEP THEM.

Fuel economy matters to your bottom line. Because the less you spend on fuel, the more profitable each job becomes—and those savings can add up quickly.
The T14 was engineered to support the fuel efficiency of the S13 Integrated Powertrain in several ways:
- It’s lighter. The T14 utilizes a planetary gear set which eliminates the need for standalone reverse gears. This contributes to the reduced overall size and weight when compared to traditional transmissions.
- It faster. The electronically controlled clutch actuator helps deliver faster, smoother shifts, which can help minimize speed loss between shifts during acceleration.
- It’s smarter. The Variable Oil Level Upper Reservoir ensures that oil is distributed when it's needed, reducing parasitic losses when it matters the most.
- It’s efficient. From Off-Road to Performance Plus – even Economy mode, the drive modes enable the operator to select the most suitable mode for the task, driving more profits and boosting the bottom line.
David Foley, General Manager, Speer Concrete has been impressed with the fuel savings his company has seen from his fleet of HX Series concrete mixers powered by the S13 Integrated Powertrain.
THE S13 INTEGRATED IS REALLY DOING WELL ON FUEL SAVINGS COMPARED TO THE OTHER TRUCKS…. ECONOMY MODE GAVE US 7.2 MILES PER GALLON, WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE IN A MIXER.

It's clear that the S13 Integrated Powertrain has been well received by vocational customers, and the T14 transmission is a major reason why. Its design, flexibility, and performance result in a truck that helps drivers and crews do their jobs with a level of precision and efficiency they've never experienced before. This can improve both operator retention and profitability—not to mention deliver a better final product.
